The Blind Date

Pappasito's Sign
(This Sign Doesn’t Lie)

In October, 2007 Joe moved to Carrollton, TX into the same neighborhood as Alicia’s aunt, Mona.  That Christmas at a neighbor’s holiday party, Joe and Mona met.  Mona suggested that Joe should eventually meet Alicia as they were similar ages, had engineering backgrounds, and would probably enjoy meeting people out of their normal social circles. Several weeks later, Alicia’s cousin, Chelsea was celebrating her 21st birthday at Mona’s house…the perfect opportunity for Joe and Alicia to meet.  However, unforeseen circumstances and illness prevented both Joe and Alicia from attending.

In February, 2008 Joe stopped by Mona’s house to drop off the belated gift for Chelsea and Mona decided that was the time to call Alicia and start the conversation.  Alicia and Joe talked for a while, and later that week, he called and set up a date for February 2 at Pappasito’s Cantina.  It was a complete blind date.  Even though Joe was wearing a denim shirt with jeans and he gave her a side-fist-bump to the shoulder as  a good-bye gesture, Alicia overlooked the faux pas(es).  The second date at the Dallas Stars hockey game went much smoother and the rest is history.

A match definitely made in heaven!! Aunt Mona must be one smart cookie – I like her already, even though I haven’t met her yet!! A wise choice to start at Pappasito’s Cantina. Did you have chips and queso and the Shrimp del Mar?? Side fist bump to the shoulder????? Joe, that’s worse than the air hugs you used to give!!!!!!!
